Consular Services

The Australian High Commission in Mauritius provides consular services to Australian citizens living or travelling in Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros and Reunion Island (France). This can include:

  • assisting Australian citizens in difficult situations overseas, including serious injury, illness or death, and arrest and detention.
  • providing support during crises and international emergencies.
  • delivering information and advice to help Australians help themselves and avoid difficulties overseas.
  • offering a limited range of notarial services, such as witnessing and legalising documents and administering oaths and affirmations (fees apply).

Consular Services Charter

While we will do what we can to help Australians in difficulty overseas, there are legal and practical limits to what help we may be able to provide. The Consular Services Charter outlines the consular assistance that may and may not be provided to Australians overseas.

Need Help

Every day, we receive calls from Australians seeking assistance. Before calling, consider seeking assistance from your family, friends, airline, travel agent, bank, tour operator, employer or travel insurance provider in the first instance.

We also ask that you consult Smartraveller’s guides to Travelling and Living and Working Overseas. This allows us to focus our resources on helping those most in need.

Travel Advice

The Australian Government’s Smartraveller website provides a range of information and advice to help you make well-informed travel decisions and stay safe while you’re overseas. This includes advisories for more than 170 destinations worldwide, including travel advice for:

Be Insured – Take Cover Before You Travel
