New Aid Program - Small Activities Scheme (SAS)

The Australian High Commission is pleased to announce a new aid program that is available to all non-government and community-based orga-nisations in Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar and Comoros. This program provides larger grants of funds and represents a major boost to our development presence in the region.

The Small Activities Scheme (SAS) is intended to support community-based activities being implemented by non-government organisations that promote sustainable economic and social development. The key objectives of the SAS are to:

        - help meet the basic humanitarian needs of local communities
        - Assist in the accelerated economic and social development of
disadvantaged communities including through improvements in the broader
          policy environment.

The SAS has been introduced to expand our development programs throughout Africa and this is the first time the Indian Ocean region has become eligible for this significant extra funding. The value of projects supported under the scheme will normally be in the range of Aud 8000-Aud50 000.

For more information on SAS, including project selection criteria, please contact the Australian High Commission on [email protected].
