HOM, Ian McConville, participated in the Seychelles Government’s Clean Up the World Campaign during his visit to congratulate President Michel following the President’s successful re-election in July 2006.

The Clean Up the World Campaign was launched by the Seychelles Minister of Environment, Ronny Jumeau, on 15 September 2006 at the Lemuria Resort, Praslin, and included widespread community participation on the island of Mahe, as well as on La Digue and Praslin.

The Seychelles, which has a population of 78 000, retains close people-to-people and education ties with Australia. HOM diplomatically claimed to have collected 8 bags of rubbish which was one less than the Minister of Environment’s tally of 9 bags.
