Australian High Commissioner, Mr Ian McConville and British High Commissioner, Mr Anthony Godson handed over 1000 copies of English version of the Mauritian best-selling recipe book ‘Si le goût m’etait conté’ on Wednesday 25 May 2006 to the Project Coordinator of local NGO, Craft Academy. The recipe book which is called A Taste in Time contains a collection of mouth watering recipes from well known individuals in both the local and expatriate communities in Mauritius.
Sales of the recipe book will help fund the Academy’s ‘Out of School Youth Project’. This project is aimed at promoting social rehabilitation, entrepreneurship, teaching skills and personal expression to groups of youths (boys and girls 16 years and over) who have little or no education.
The publication of the recipe book was made possible through the Australian High Commission’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) and the British High Commission’s Small Grants Scheme. Both programmes are aimed at poverty alleviation through support for small scale development projects and activities.
